Welcome to the Limassol Carnival Museum

Welcome to the Interactive Folklore Museum of the Limassol Carnival, a cultural initiative made possible through the collective contribution of numerous donors and collaborators. The Museum stands as a well-documented tribute to the city’s long-standing and multifaceted carnival history. Through the presentation of tangible and intangible heritage materials, the carnival is highlighted as a living socio-cultural phenomenon, a bearer of memory, identity, and timeless creativity.

The city of Limassol, inextricably linked to the institution of Carnival, now gains a new, specialized museum space dedicated to the study, promotion, and experiential exploration of Cyprus’s most important folk celebration. The Limassol Carnival Museum, established on the initiative of the Municipality of Limassol, offers visitors the opportunity to systematically explore the carnival’s long historical journey and to approach the phenomenon through a balanced combination of entertainment and educational experience, guided by respect and scholarly care for its cultural heritage.

Το Μουσείο στεγάζεται στο Δημοτικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο «Πάνος Σολομωνίδης» και φιλοξενείται σε τρεις ειδικά διαμορφωμένους ορόφους, συγκροτώντας έναν σύγχρονο διαδραστικό μουσειακό χώρο που ενσωματώνει παιδαγωγικές και ψυχαγωγικές πρακτικές. Η έναρξη της λειτουργίας του το 2025 συνιστά θεσμικό και πολιτιστικό ορόσημο για την ιστορική πορεία του Λεμεσιανού Καρναβαλιού, καθώς σηματοδοτεί τη συστηματική μουσειακή του τεκμηρίωση και ανάδειξη.
